Your Cough Could Kill.
Individuals with aplastic anemia are at
increased risk of getting infections because their immune system is attacking itself. Because there is no immune system left in these patients, any infection they may acquire from the community may be fatal. Public awareness needs to be raised in order to promote public health and reduce complications for individuals suffering from the disease. Aplastic anemia is a disease that can affect anyone, at any age, of any race or gender. It is a disease that slowly destroys the body's immune system because the blood cannot create cells needed in order to survive. Red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets are blood components that carry oxygen to the muscles and lungs, attack invading infections, and create clots to stop blood flow when there is an injury.
